North Bingham County RV Park

Spot #9

Our first RV Park stay as full timers was at North Bingham County Park.

Located just a few miles from Shelley, Idaho all the things you might need are just a few minutes away – gas station, a grocery store, hardware store, dollar store, sit down restaurants as well as fast food. This is a very nice park with only 12 pull through RV sites with electric & water. There is a dump station on site.  Cost is only $25 a night (cash or check only payments).  You will have to call and leave a message to make a reservation, but you will get a call back most likely in the evening. There is a large grassy area for tent camping and each site has a fire pit. The bathrooms are fairly clean (I didn’t check out the men’s personally, but trust my husband that is clean) with one shower to use, but large and spacious as well as private. The shower has a door with a lock. We stayed over the Labor Day weekend and the park was full.  The shower area seems to hold the moisture so there was a bit of mildew here and there on the walls. It is run by the County so no one is on site to speak with. It is off a busy road that leads to the Interstate so you hear a bit of traffic noise. The RV Park was quiet otherwise at least during our stay and there were people with dogs and/or kids.  One morning though there was a family that had tent camped overnight near the picnic shelter across the parking lot from where we were parked. Mom was yelling at the kids and the kids were howling like coyotes. Slightly annoying, but it wasn’t that early in the morning. This RV Park is connected to the North Bingham County park, there are lots of trees, grassy areas and picnic tables scattered throughout the park. It has horseshoe pits, a playground, several covered picnic areas for large groups, and frisbee golf.  A short walk through the park you can go to the North Bingham County Historical Park. You can also access the Snake River from the park for boating and fishing.  There is a nice greenbelt area nearby for walking, jogging (if you are into that sort of thing) or bike riding. There is a golf course, just a short drive on the other side of the river.

Update: We stayed a second time when we came back through for my 30 year class reunion (Go Russets!) and Spud Day, and the park was still nice and quiet, but the bath houses were slightly more of an issue this time around. Even though the place wasn’t busy, the water was only lukewarm. The lack of a vent or floor mat makes the bath house musty and the changing area of the shower dirty and muddy. This bath house could use some work, I recommend having the people who care for it try using it once and see what they would do if it were their own shower.

Earlier in my post I mentioned the laundromat in Shelley. Do not use the laundromat in Shelley! It might ruin clothes, and there is no number to call and no one to contact.

Pros: price, value, proximity to Interstate, quiet, green, shade, lots of trees

Cons: next to a main road, only one shower in each bathroom, bathrooms are OK but not super clean
