White Cliffs State Park, Arkansas

Monday, October 28th in the afternoon we stopped and got lunch at Hideaway Pizza in Broken Arrow, OK on our way to Arkansas.  This place was recommended by a friend who used to live in the area.  We got a 12” hand tossed crust with half Maui Magic (Hideaway Red Sauce, Mozzarella, Canadian Bacon, Pineapple & Mandarin Orange) and half Paradise Pie (Alfredo Sauce, Mozzarella, Provolone, Bacon, Grilled Chicken, Mushrooms, Roma Tomato, Fresh Spinach). The Paradise Pie side was amazing! We also got a slice of the frozen Lemonade pie, but it wasn’t very lemony.

The drive through Arkansas was nice, tons of trees though not many fall colors. I got to drive through a National Forest so it was slow going and skinny, windy roads plus some fog.  I did alright, but Chad took over towards the end of our drive to our home for the night.

Chad found White Cliffs Park which is located on the east bank of the Little River feeding into Millwood Lake in southwest Arkansas. It offers 25 paved sites with water and electricity, flush toilets, showers, and a trailer dump station. Area amenities also include a boat ramp, bank-fishing access, a playground and adjacent protected natural area with hiking trail. Cost is between $15 – $21 a night and we stayed in site #13.  The bathrooms & showers are what you would expect for a public park. Not anything like you would find at an RV Park/Resort. Reservations are available but online only. There was a sign about the possibility of alligators but we didn’t see any.

Chad made us a yummy chicken pot pie for dinner.  We walked around the park while it was cooking. Sad to see garbage floating around in the water even though there are several areas for garbage throughout the park.
